Seoul Now Hospital is a middle sized hospital in South Korea that specializes in orthopedic surgery and the treatment of rheumatologic conditions.

We have 12 orthopedic surgeons with a subspecialty training and our areas of practice include joint replacement, orthopedic trauma, hand and upper extremity surgery, foot and ankle surgery, pediatric orthopedics, spine surgery and sports medicine.

We have 95 hospital beds and 5 operation rooms. More than 3,000 surgical procedures are performed annually, and about 150,000 outpatients are treated every year.

Implants for total knee arthroplasty has a history of more than 40 years. But, most of them were developed in the West and were designed largely based on the anatomical shape of Westerners.

Dr. H Wook Kang, founder of Seoul Now Hospital and Dr. JB Kim found that conventional artificial joint models did not fit well with the shape of Korean knees. So they conducted a research to measure the knee shape of Koreans and the results were published as “Are Western Knee Designs Dimensionally Correct for Korean Women? A Morphometric Study of Resected Femoral Surfaces during Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty”, (Clinics in Orthopedic Surgery, 2016, 8(3): 254-261).

Based on the above-mentioned research, Dr. Kang designed Korean knee-shaped implant and a German company ( Implantcast GmbH ) have been producing this implant as a name of "ACS hyperflex". So far, It has been implanted to more than 10,000 patients and is showing high patient satisfaction such as good ROM, a quick recovery, a comfortable movement and also long longevity.
